The 2006 Gold Buffalo 24k is the first ever .9999 fine 24 karat gold coin ever struck in United States Mint history.

The 2006 Gold Buffalo 24K features originally appeared on America’s Indian Head or Buffalo 5-cent coin (or nickel) in 1913. The design was by James Earle Fraser, an American sculptor. It depicts a Native Indian on one side (based on three different American Indians who modeled for Fraser) and a Bison on the reverse side of the coin.

The United States Mint produced an MS-69, perfect MS-70 and a proof version of these $50 gold coins.
